SENEGAL’S AIGLES DE LA MEDINA TRIUMPH IN CAF WAFU ZONE A QUALIFIERS

Senegal’s Aigles De La Medina emerged victorious in the WAFU A CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers and will now represent their zone in the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The tournament featured five clubs from different countries, with Aigles De La Medina clinching the top title and earning a spot in the prestigious continental competition.

Both Determine Girls from Liberia and Mogbwemo Queens from Sierra Leone put up a strong fight in the qualifiers, making the final matches intense and thrilling. In a key match, Aigles De La Medina secured a 2-1 victory against Determine Girls, who needed a win to claim the title.

This outcome gave Mogbwemo Queens an opportunity to snatch the championship with a win against Red Scorpion from Gambia.As the matches unfolded, Aigles De La Medina anxiously awaited the result of the match between Mogbwemo Queens and Red Scorpion.

The draw in that match confirmed Aigles De La Medina as the champions of the WAFU A Qualifiers. Ultimately, Aigles De La Medina topped the table with 7 points, followed closely by Determine Girls and Mogbwemo Queens with 6 points each. Defending champions AS Mandé settled for fourth place with 4 points, while Red Scorpion finished at the bottom also with 4 points.

The CAF Women’s Champions League 2024 Finals is scheduled for November 2024 and promise to showcase the growth and competitiveness of women’s football on the continent.

The tournament has been gaining momentum since its inception in Egypt three years ago, attracting global audiences, high stadium attendances, and engaging social media interactions.
